Last week we posted a blog about weekly deals at Walgreens & CVS (and more this week here).
A couple of folks wrote into Froogaloo to say, "That's great, but why should I care?". The answer is -- you should be mindful of these weekly deals if you're looking for easy ways to save (and sometimes make money).
Consider a couple of scenarios:
1.) You can get products, that you use everyday (like toothpaste, shampoo, etc.), for "free".
2.) You can get other products, which you might try, share with others or donate to a charity (possibly a tax deduction), for "free". For example, in my household, we have a large collection of greeting cards that we've acquired at CVS.
Basically, you're exchanging money to get a product, for in-store money (Register Rewards -- RRs at Walgreens and Extra Care Bucks - ECBs at CVS), which you can use on your next purchase. Often times, my wife will use the RRs or ECBs to purchase items like bread, milk & eggs. In the end, we lower our expenses each week.
